After School Matters (ASM) provides life-changing after-school and summer program opportunities to nearly 20,000 Chicago high school teens each year. In 2017, ASM opened The Michael and Karyn Lutz Center in Chicago's Belmont Cragin neighborhood—providing a greater reach and opportunity for teens.
Bark worked with ASM to design a donor wall and wayfinding signage for the Center. The unique materials and imaginative spaces throughout the building provided abundant inspiration for creative solutions.
The donor wall greets visitors and teens as they come through the front doors of the Michael and Karyn Lutz Center. The large arrow directs people to the donor listing and into the Center, while the history of the building is told through a timeline that is illuminated with backlit LEDs.
The signage program was designed to accentuate the brand colors which designate each floor. The sign’s transparent backing blends the graphic treatment with the different building materials used throughout the Center.
